Pressure Washer Not Spraying A Steady Stream Of Water? Learn How To Clean The Nozzle

Pressure washers can be a very useful tool to have around the house. They allow you to clean dirt off siding, grime off decking, and make washing your car a bit easier. Over time, the nozzle of your power washer may become clogged as minerals from the water becomes deposited in the nozzle. If you notice that the nozzle is not able to spray water in an even stream, it may be clogged. Use the following guide to learn how to easily clean the nozzle of your power washer.

Remove the Nozzle

To remove the nozzle of your pressure washer, all you need to do is fine the location where the nozzle connects to the arm of the pressure washer. Use a pair of pliers to loosen the nozzle by turning it counterclockwise at its base. Continue to turn until the nozzle comes loose from the pressure washer arm.

Soak the Nozzle

Next, fill a glass bowl with one cup of warm water, one cup of white vinegar, and a tablespoon of baking soda. Mix the ingredients together until the baking soda dissolves completely. Add the nozzle to the bowl and allow it to soak for thirty minutes.

Clean the Nozzle

After the nozzle has soaked, remove it from the bowl. Use a small toothbrush to clean the inside of the nozzle. Be careful not to push any mineral deposits deeper into the channel of the nozzle.

Unblock the Channel

Flip the nozzle over and look into the small channel where the water sprays out of the nozzle. Look to see if the channel is blocked at all. If you see a blockage, use a small needle to poke whatever is blocking the channel free so that the water can spray freely through the nozzle.

Replace the Nozzle

Place the nozzle back onto the end of the pressure washer arm and use the pliers to tighten it into place. Be sure to turn the nozzle counterclockwise to tighten it.

Once the nozzle is back on the pressure washer, you will want to test it out to make sure that it works properly. If you notice that the pressure washer is still not spraying water as evenly as you would like, you may need to simply replace the nozzle altogether. All you need to know to order a new nozzle is the make, model, and year of your pressure washer. This can often be found on a small plaque or tag located near the power switch on the pressure washer.
