Going All-Natural With Your Cleaning Supplies

Felecia Coleman

With more people becoming aware of the dangers of the chemicals used in cleaning products, natural cleaning solutions are being used. If you have a cleaning service working to keep your home or business clean, you can request the use of natural cleaners to keep things clean and disinfected. What natural options do you have?

All-Purpose Cleaner

There are four main ingredients that go into an all-purpose cleaner that can be used in just about anything safely.  You need:

  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of dish soap
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda

Mix these ingredients together in a spray bottle and you are good to go. Just give the bottle a few shakes before each use and your surfaces can be as clean, if not cleaner, than they would be if you were to use the harshest all-purpose cleaner.

Glass Cleaner

Cleaning windows and doors is never any fun. But it can be made easier by using a mixture of 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Just be sure that the water that you add isn't hard. If you have hard water, use bottled water to make the mixture. This mixture is used in the same manner as the blue window cleaner.

Disinfectant

Germs and bacteria are everywhere, but you don't need harsh chemicals to kill them. Instead, mix 2 cups of water with 2 cups of rubbing alcohol in a bottle. This mixture can be sprayed onto surfaces and allowed to dry or wiped dry with a clean cloth. This is a great way to keep doorknobs and frequently touched surfaces free of germs throughout the day.

Wood Cleaner

Wood cleaning products can be expensive and some of them can actually leave a film on the wood that makes it appear hazy. Instead of spending your money on cleaners that could damage your wood surfaces, mix 2 cups of linseed oil with a cup of lemon juice to make an all-natural cleaner. This will clean the wood and buff to a beautiful shine without the use of any chemicals at all.

Scouring Mixture

For those hard to clean surfaces, like a stove top or dirty kitchen sink, a powder scouring mixture will do well. Mix 2 cups of baking soda, 1 cup of salt and a cup of borax powder in a plastic container. Wet the surface, sprinkle it with the mixture and let it sit for ten minutes or so. Use a scrub brush to scour the surface, rinse and dry.

If you request the use of all-natural cleaning solutions for your home or business, your cleaning company may require that you provide them with the supplies. Use the recipes above to do just that. Contact a local cleaning service, like Carnation Cleaning Corp, for more info.
